FAI 5 A Side Win!
29th Mar 2026
⚽ The FAI 5-a-side competition was a brilliant day out for everyone involved, with our school proudly sending two teams to take part.
Our second team faced strong opposition in Scoil Mhuire Newtownforbes, St. Mary’s Drumlish and Colmcille. They showed great teamwork, effort and determination in all their games. While they didn’t make it out of the group, they can be really proud of how they played and the way they supported each other throughout. Our first team had a great run in their group, playing against Melview, St. Mary’s Edgeworthstown and St. Emer’s. They played some fantastic football and topped their group, earning a place in the semi-finals where they were set to meet Scoil Mhuire Newtownforbes. The girls returned to the rugby club for their semi-final clash this morning. In a thrilling end-to-end encounter against Scoil Mhuire Newtownforbes, the girls showed great determination and skill to come out on top and book their place in the final. They then faced Stonepark in what proved to be an action-packed final. Our girls took an early lead before Stonepark responded with an equaliser. Not to be outdone, the girls pushed ahead once more and, despite intense pressure in the closing stages, held their lead with great resilience and teamwork. In the end, they emerged victorious, capping off a fantastic performance. They now go on to represent Longford at Leinster level. Congratulations girls — you have done your school, parents and your clubs, Killoe Celtic and Newtown FC, incredibly proud! 👏 Killoe Celtic Minor Soccer Club
